Update on the Solar Sustainability and Energy Master Plan from Trustees and Green Team

Originally conceived in 2019, the lighting efficiency project is finally entering the home stretch! This is the first step in our Solar Sustainability and Energy Master Plan. The lighting project will be finished during the week of May 3rd . The cove lights will be replaced with new fixtures and a redundant system. The fixtures will all be LED and dimmable. Scaffolding will be in the sanctuary for both Meeting House Music and Meditation (May 7th) and the Sunday, May 9th service at 9. The scaffolding is scheduled to be removed on May 13/14. The LED conversion is already resulting in savings to our electrical costs.

The Trustees voted on Sunday April 19 to take another significant step implementing the Green Team’s Energy Master Plan recommendations. The Trustees approved applying for the Certificate of Appropriateness from the Salisbury Historic District Commission to install standing seam metal roofing and a 40/42kW solar array on the Meeting House and Parish Hall. Your support to the SHDC will be very much appreciated! The COA is required in order to get building permits. Our energy consultant, MHR Development, is preparing the technical description of the roofing and solar and the Trustee’s House Committee has furnished narrative describing the spiritual side of the project. We will submit the application by April 28, for the SHDC meeting 9AM Tue May 5 for the 1 st review; we hope to be scheduled for the Public Hearing Tuesday June 1.
