Prayer Shawl Meeting
From: Myra Brandt and Pat Palmer
Do you knit or crochet and are you willing to share your talents? We have an opportunity for you to join with others to make prayer shawls. Prayer shawls are given to various people to let them know that we are thinking about and supporting them during whatever time of trouble they may be facing. The shawls symbolically wrap the people in our warmth, comfort and prayers.
Our first meeting will be at the church on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 4:30 PM. We invite you to join us and bring a friend. This meeting is organizational: we will share our ideas and listen to your ideas. We are planning to set up a schedule for one hour monthly get-togethers for creating and fellowship. Bring needles and yarn if you have a shawl in progress and create while we talk.
If you would like to start a prayer shawl, Myra suggests buying three 6-ounce skeins of bulky #5 yarn that is very soft. She has found that Lion Brand Homespun is a perfect choice. For this yarn, #11 needles work well. A simple pattern to follow would be to make the shawl 60 stitches wide with a knit 3, pearl 3 pattern.

If you are unable to attend, but are interested, please let Myra or Pat know of your interest and provide us with your email. We look forward to restarting the prayer shawl ministry that was initiated here at the Congregational Church of Salisbury in the mid-2010’s.
Please put both beginning and ending times on the events. Thank you.
