Light of Service for Sunday, June 22 – Harriet L. Wood Fund for Children

The Harriet L. Wood Fund for Children was established in memory of Leila Wood, beloved school counselor at North Canaan Elementary School for 35 years, who passed away unexpectedly in April 2021. Created by her partner, Leo Nadeau, the fund honors Leila’s lifelong dedication to the well-being of local children.

Initially used to ensure all eighth-grade students could participate in the class trip to Washington, D.C., the fund now provides stipends for students accepted to Oliver Wolcott Technical High School. These stipends help cover the cost of required uniforms and tools for students entering one of the school’s twelve trade programs.

If you are unable to attend the service on 6/22 but would like to contribute, you may donate to the light of service through our website with the note, “for the Leila Wood Fund for Children” in the comment section.
