Choral Introit: The Lord Is God

 Call to Worship

One: In the warmth of the summer morning, we give thanks for all of creation.

All: We praise God who made the world and all that is in it!

One: We are here this morning together, one community of Christ, worshipping and doing God’s work in the world.

All: All are welcome; all are beloved.

One: Here, we experience God’s goodness, mercy and forgiveness.

All: May we find those qualities within ourselves and share them with the world.

Opening Prayer (in unison)

Send your Spirit down upon us, inspiring us to be more like Jesus each day. We know that you are with us always, God; today we ask for a special awareness of your presence, that we might hear your word and understand its meaning for our lives today. In Scripture, in song, in prayer, in community, and in love, we look for you to guide us today and every day. Amen.

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession (in unison)

Holy God, you show no partiality; you love all your children despite our shortcomings. We sometimes have difficulty doing the same. Help us to see your light in every face – your goodness in every person. May we focus on becoming the people you call us to be, rather than judging and finding fault with others. Take away every lurking grudge. Let love be the measure of our lives, we pray. Forgive us and free us from sin, that we may be your faithful people, living according to the commandments of our Lord Jesus Christ, who rules the world and is head of the church. Hear us now as we turn to you with our silent confessions, seeking your mercy, forgiveness and grace.
