Joys and Concerns

Introit: #188Jesus loves me!

Call to Worship

One:     In the raising of the sun…

All:       We know your steadfast presence.

One:     In the persistent rain…

All:      We know you will never leave us.

One:    In the falling snow…

All:      We know that you are present to us in countless ways.

One:    In our mountains and hills…

All:      We know you our solid foundation.

One:    In the trees and flowers that will bud and bloom…

All:      We know that you are the source of all love and life.  Let us celebrate this day as we prepare to worship you our creator.

Prayer of Invocation (in unison)

God of light and love, open our eyes and hearts to your presence in this place. Help us to know that you are infused throughout all facets of creation.  Allow us to know you in the trees and flowers, in the changing seasons, in the creations of humanity, and especially within one another.  Let us recognize the divine spark that exists within those gathered here and within the stranger both near and far. Help us to be mindful of your presence in this moment and in all we do.

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession (in unison)

Forgive us, Sustainer, for turning from you. We are called to keep you at the center of all we do. Instead, it is so easy to center our lives on ourselves.  In so doing, not only do we lose you and your will for the world, but we forget that we are part of creation. We too often put the other, second, forgetting that ‘I am because we are’.  You created all of us and love us wildly.  Take from me the things that separate me from you and keep me from knowing my place among all your beloved children. Continue to call me back into relationship, that I might respond to your unending love and grace. Receive now our silent confessions and prayers.
