Call to Worship
One: Arise, people of God, to greet the One who calls us; come alive to the Spirit’s energy among us.
Many: God’s goodness and mercy are with us here. Come, Holy One, to awaken us and restore our souls!
The shepherd calls us to new ventures,
leads us to the richness of life.
Though fear may rise, though our way descend through shadowed valleys, our God abides with us everywhere.
Come to drink from springs of living water.
Gather to find comfort and blessing here.
God is in this holy place;
we open our souls to grace and wonder.
Prayer of Invocation (in unison)
Draw us together, Eternal One, from paths of aimless wandering. Lead us today toward the community you intend. Help us feel the hunger and thirst of others; then lead your church to make a caring response. Let your love fill us and overflow into our neighbors’ lives. Amen.
Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
O God, we look at events around us and cannot perceive you within them. We shed tears and find no comfort. We listen for your voice and are greeted by silence. The world seems full of troubles waiting to devour us. On every hand, there are problems too complicated for us to solve. We are caught between our desire for your reassurance and our reluctance to change how we live and move and have our being. Come, Holy One: restore our souls.
