Prelude: Prelude in E Minor J.S. Bach

Chiming of the Hour

Welcome

Joys and Concerns | Silent Prayer

Introit: Gathered Here Phil Porter

Call to Worship

One: God finds delight in humanity, and in each of us.

Let us rejoice before the majesty of our Creator.

Many: God of grace and glory, who made all things, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Christ calls us, gently and powerfully, to hopeful endurance. We give thanks for a faith that brings shalom.

God of grace and glory, Savior of your people,

How precious is your gift of the Risen One!

The Holy Spirit guides us, animates us, inspires us:

Let us listen that we may hear and do what is true.

God of grace and glory, ever present with us,

How reassuring is the love with which you surround us!

Prayer of Invocation (in unison)

Amazing God, revealed to us in more ways than we can count, yet binding in unity all that was and is and yet shall be, we worship you. Source of mountains and seas, giver of light and darkness, we marvel at the work of your hands. Reconciler and Redeemer, we are awed by the forgiving love that draws us to you and empowers us to care for one another. Spirit of truth, whose guidance is available to us every day, we rejoice in your transforming presence. Triune God, Bless, we pray, this gathering of your discipes. Amen.

Hymn

Call to Confession

Unison Prayer of Confession

God of Wisdom, our choices have denied you. We drink from the shallow waters of instant gratification when you offer springs of living water from the depths of your love. We pursue our new fame and glory, which crumble into dust when we view the self-emptying and service that build true character. O God, we confess that we have not put first things first. Recall us to awe and wonder and guide us in the ways of truth. Amen.

Moment of Silent Prayer

Assurance of God’s Love

Gloria: #584 Glory, Glory, Glory

Responsive Psalter: Psalm 8

One: O Holy One, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.

Many: Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger.

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?

Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor.

You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

O Holy One, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
