Chiming of the Hour
Welcome
Prelude: Jesus Christ, Our Savior J.S. Bach
Joys and Concerns | Silent Prayer
Introit: O Sing to Our God BRAZILIAN TRADITIONAL
Call to Worship (from Psalm 107)
ONE: O give thanks to our God who is good,
Whose steadfast love endures forever!
MANY: The people God loves have been gathered in from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.
Some have wandered, finding no safety, hungry and thirsty.
In their trouble they cried out to God
who delivered them from distress.
Let us thank our God for steadfast love
for all humankind.
For God satisfies the thirsty, and fills the hungry with good things. O give thanks to our God who is good, whose steadfast love endures forever!
✠ Hymn: #625 How Great Thou Art O STORE GUD
Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
What does God see within us and among us? Do you suppose that God is concerned? frustrated? angry? What defenses have we created to keep God out of our lives? How have we turned away from the life God intends for us? Now is the moment to come out of hiding — for God, who searches the heart, already knows us wholly and yet loves us wholly.
Moment of Silent Prayer
Assurance of God’s Love
✠ Gloria #583 GLORIA (Taizé)
Glory to God, glory to God, glory in the highest!
Glory to God, glory to God, alleluia, alleluia!
Responsive Psalter: Psalm 107:1-9, 13
ONE: O give thanks to our God, Who is good,
MANY: Whose unfaltering love endures forever.
Let those redeemed by the Most High say so,
Those whom God delivered from adversity
And gathered in from the lands,
From the east and from the west,
From the north and from the south.
Some wandered in desert wastes,
Finding no way to an inhabited town;
Hungry and thirsty, their lives ebbed away.
Then they cried out to the Holy One in their distress,
And God Most High delivered them from peril;
The Almighty led them by a direct path,
Until they reached an inhabited town.
Let them thank the Holy One for this unfaltering love,
For these wondrous actions toward humankind.
Yes, the Redeeming God satisfies the thirsty,
And fills the hungry with good things.
Let those who are wise give heed to these things,
And ponder the Creator’s unfaltering love.

Prayer after Communion
One: Eternal and gracious One, though we live in a world of need,
Many: here we have tasted your goodness
and hungered for a world more just.
Though afflicted by brokenness and division,
here we have heard your call
to be a people of healing community.
Though daily we touch our limits,
here we have received
the fullness of your grace.
Send us forth, O God,
in faith, in hope, and in love. Amen.
